Each vintage we discover small batches of exceptional grapes which we make into our Small Parcel SP range. These Sauvignon Blanc grapes are from first cropping vines on a vineyard situated in the foothills of the delta ranges. The unique positioning shelters the vineyard from the cool southerly winds and becomes a heat trap, this leads to lower acids and higher pH along with high sugar levels. These grapes were machine harvested, destemmed and pressed immediately and then cold settled for 36 hours. The juice was then racked, warmed and inoculated for cool fermentation. 	Kim Crawford Marlborough Pinot Noir 2006 6x75cl The 2006 Kim Crawford Pinot Noir has perfumes of black cherries and red currants on the nose, with hints of smoke and a little oak. On the palate, the juicy, cherryish fruit is to the fore, with ripe, soft tannins and a clean, succulent finish. It is perhaps less juicy than the 2005, but certainly more classic. Kim’s control over his own grape supply has ensured that quality remains at its current very high level. He now has a stake in over 100 hectares of vineyard, while the rest of his fruit comes from growers with whom he has developed long term arrangements. All of this has resulted in better fruit, which in turn means better wines. The wine has again been sealed with a Stelvin closure.
